The amount of energy storage you need depends on your typical home energy usage and your current setup of GM Energy products. Every home and solution is unique. When paired with a GM Energy Home Hub & Inverter, the GM Energy PowerBank can provide the following estimated backup times running an average American home*:
 

• GM Energy PowerBank 10.6kWh – up to 6 hours

• GM Energy PowerBank 17.7kWh – up to 10 hours

• GM Energy PowerBank 35.4kWh – up to 20 hours

Your vehicle mobile app* helps estimate your available backup time based on your GM Energy PowerBank’s state of charge and your home’s average energy consumption. Backup duration can vary depending on several factors, including: the specific loads you choose to back up, your energy usage during an outage, the GM Energy PowerBank’s battery health over time, whether you have a V2H-capable GM EV*, and the specific vehicle model.

Please Note:

• Only one GM Energy Home Hub & Inverter can be installed per home location and supports up to 35.4kWh of GM Energy PowerBank storage.

• If you’ve already purchased a 10.6kWh GM Energy PowerBank, your system can only integrate with an additional 10.6kWh GM Energy PowerBank.

• If you’ve already purchased a 17.7kWh GM Energy PowerBank, your system can only integrate with an additional 17.7kWh GM Energy PowerBank.

• If you’ve purchased a 35.4kWh GM Energy PowerBank, your system cannot support additional energy storage.

The customer and their licensed contractor and/or licensed electrician are responsible for installing GM Energy products in accordance with all applicable state, local and national electrical codes and standards.

By having your GM Energy products professionally installed by one of our preferred installation providers, you can rest assured that the equipment is installed properly, professionally and with the right permits. The preferred installer will help ensure your system is operating as intended to power your V2H-capable GM EV.*

After installation and commissioning, your system should appear in your vehicle mobile app. If your system is not showing in the app after 24 hours, you can manually add it by tapping your profile avatar->add product->GM Energy.

Your GM Energy mobile tools will be your first stop for device performance and support. Additionally, there will be live technical experts available for you to call during business hours who can perform remote diagnostics. If further support is needed, you can schedule a trained technician to visit your home and perform necessary troubleshooting and repairs. Additional charges may apply.
